BANGLADESH: 6 TO WALK GALLOWS FOR KILLING VAN-PULLER IN KUSHTIA

A Kushtia court handed over death sentence to 6 accused in a case filed over killing a van-puller named Abu Bakkar Siddik (33) in Kanchankhali of Kushtia Sadar upazila.
The court also fined them Tk5 thousand for each.
Judge Reza Md Alamgir Hossain of Additional District and Session Judge Court of Kushtia passed the order around 12:30pm on February 7.
The convicts are—Sazad (36), Majed (39), Shukchand (34), Rashidul (28), Kalai alias Jalil Mondal (49) and Monser Ali (54) from Jot Para and Ratul Para of Kushtia Sadar upazila.
Sources from the court informed that Abu Bakkar Siddik went missing from his home at the night of June 10, 2012. His body was found in a field in Kanchankhali of the sadar upazila in the next morning. Nur Haque Mondal, brother of Siddik, filed a case with Kushtia Model Police Station on the same day.
After investigation, police filed chargesheet against Sazad, Majed, Jamirul, Shukchand, Rashidul, Kalai alias Jalil Mondal and Monser Ali in 2012.
Among the accused, Jamirul died and Rashidul is absconding, informed Adovocate Anup Kumar Nondi, Public Prosecutor of Kushtia Judge Court.
Slain Abu Bakkar Siddik is son of Abdul Jalil Mondal of Jot Para village in the sadar upazila.
