IRAN. AFGHAN HITMAN HANGED IN PUBLIC

Public hanging in Iran

10 August 2006 :

an Afghan hitman convicted of murdering a dozen people in south-eastern Iran, was hanged in public. Identified as Najib Karzahi, the man was hanged in front of a crowd of local people and officials in the area of his killings, about 35 kilometres (20 miles) from Bam, Kerman province.
Karzahi's execution-style murders were claimed by a shadowy Sunni militant group called Jundullah ('Army of God').
"Karzahi was a Wahabi Afghan, who had come to work in Iran and was hired by the group's leader, Abdolmalek Rigi, to help with the murders for ten million rials (about 1,000 USD)," the semi-official Fars news agency reported.
