Ali Akbar Mohammadi executed in Neyshabour Prison on December 6.
According to information obtained by Iran Human Rights, a young man was executed in Neyshabour Prison on the morning of December 6. His identity has been established as Ali Akbar Mohammadi and he was executed for murder committed during a street fight. Ali Akbar was around 24 years old at the time of execution and had spent around five years in the Youth Ward of Shahroud Prison, making it probable that he was under the age of 18 at the time the alleged murder took place. Iran Human Rights is continuing to investigate the matter. An informed source told Iran Human Rights: “Ali Akbar didn’t have parents and there was nobody to look out for him. He didn’t even have a knife in his pocket, someone passed him a knife when a group of people attacked him. He didn’t even know how to use the knife or where to stab as to not kill the person.” “A month ago, the victim’s next of kin had given him a three-month deadline to make the 5 billion tomans diya to grant forgiveness. Charitable people in Shahroud had raised 4 billion tomans. But they executed him a month into the deadline and the court still hasn’t returned people’s money to them,” the source added. Ali Akbar had gone to the gallows four times and each time, he was kept in solitary confinement for two days prior to the scheduled execution which was torturous for him. At the time of writing, his execution has not been reported by domestic media in Iran.
