MALAYSIA: INDONESIAN TO HANG FOR DRUG TRAFFICKING

A 33-year-old Indonesian man was sentenced to death by the High Court in Tawau for trafficking in 707 grams of syabu.
Judicial Commissioner Azhahari Kamal Ramli found the defendant Ancu bin Kahar guilty under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952 which provides for the mandatory death sentence by hanging.
The accused was found trafficking the drugs on November 29, 2015 at about 7am along Traulsen Coastal Highway.
Marine police patrolling the area saw the accused along the coastal area in a sitting position holding a bag. A marine officer approached the accused and made an arrest before searching the bag and finding two packages wrapped with tape. Upon opening the packages, there were 10 packages of transparent plastic bags containing the drugs in each wrapping. The drugs were found inside 20 transparent plastic bags.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Azeezi Nordin prosecuted the case.
