USA - Alabama. A jury recommended the death penalty for Ryan Clark Petersen

08 January 2017 :

A Houston County jury voted 10-2 to recommend the death penalty for Ryan Clark Petersen, 26, White. The recommendation comes more than a week after the jury convicted Petersen of capital murder in the shooting of three people on August 10, 2012. Another person was wounded in the incident. Circuit Judge Brad Mendheim will render the final sentencing in March. Petersen is charged with capital murder in the shooting deaths of Tiffani Paige Grissett, 31, Cameron Eubanks, 20, and Thomas Robins Jr., 59. According to police, Petersen was kicked out of a nightclub after a dispute with an employee, went to his truck, shot Eubanks, the son of the owner, outside the club and then re-entered and shot Grissett and Robins to death. Petersen shot another man, who survived. Defense attorneys for Petersen argued during the guilt phase of the trial that Petersen was not responsible for his actions due to mental impairment and large consumption of alcohol. They argued during the sentencing phase that Petersen's life should be spared due to several mitigating factors including his mental condition.
