USA - Alabama. Taurus Carroll's claim of Intellectual Disability to be evaluated

05 May 2017 :

The U.S. Supreme Court has granted Taurus Carroll's petition for writ of certiorari, vacated the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals' judgment denying his claim that he is ineligible for the death penalty because of Intellectual Disability, and remanded the case to the state court to reconsider Carroll's claim in light of the Supreme Court's recent decision in Moore v. Texas (see 28/03/2017). Carroll, 39, Black, was convicted in 2012 for the murder of fellow St. Clair County inmate Michael Turner in Sept. 2009.
