USA - California. A jury recommended the death penalty for Jade Douglas Harris

20 March 2020 :

A Los Angeles County jury on Monday recommended the death penalty for Jade Douglas Harris, 37, Black. The same jurors last month found Harris guilty of killing 3 people and wounding 2 others after responding to an ad for a used car. According to prosecutors, Harris’ shooting rampage began after he went to a Downey business on Oct. 24, 2012, in response to a Craigslist ad for a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro. He shot 3 people, killing 2 — Josimar Rojas, 26, and Irene Cardenas Reyes, 35. Then he then forced Susana Perez Ruelas, 34, to drive him and her son to a nearby home, where the Camaro was parked. After arriving, he shot and killed Perez Ruelas and wounded her son, prosecutors said. Harris was arrested a day after the killings. Harris had been released from prison on parole about 3 months before the killings, after serving an 8-year sentence for a takeover robbery. He is scheduled to be sentenced April 21, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office said.
