USA - Pennsylvania. A jury sentenced Eric Frein to death

28 April 2017 :

A Pike County jury sentenced Eric Frein, 33, White, to death. Frein is charged in the Sept. 12, 2014 ambush that killed Cpl. Bryon Dickson II, White, and critically injured Trooper Alex Douglass. The gunman, an anti-government survivalist, led police on a tense, 6-week manhunt through the Pennsylvania woods before U.S. marshals caught him on October 30th. Frein likely won’t be executed for decades, if ever. Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf has imposed a moratorium on the death penalty, and Pennsylvania’s last execution took place in 1999. The state has executed only three people since the U.S. Supreme Court restored the death penalty in 1976 (see also May 3, 2015).
