Saudi Arabia beheaded five Pakistanis and a Nigerian for drug smuggling and armed robbery, one of the highest numbers of executions in the kingdom in a single day.The executions, announced in Interior Ministry statements carried by the official SPA news agency, take to 117 the number of people beheaded in Saudi Arabia so far this year, passing the total of 113 for the whole of 2000, which was the highest in recent years. The ministry said Pakistani nationals Adnan Mohammad Ishfak, Zuhair Hossein Mohammad and Mohammad Naaman Mohammad formed a gang and robbed “a number of taxis.”
They were executed in Riyadh. Pakistani national Omar Sardar was also beheaded in the capital for “smuggling heroin concealed in his stomach” into the country. His compatriot Jahangir Zarin Bin Adam Khan Mhanid was executed in Jeddah province on the Red Sea for the same crime. Nigerian Nureddin Mohammad trafficked in cocaine and was beheaded in Jeddah province.
