A high instance court in the Gaza Strip upheld the death sentence of a Palestinian accused of having killed a child. The suspect, identified only by the initials S.Sh., was convicted of murder, kidnapping, attempted rape, and brandishing a knife outside his home for “illegitimate” purposes. The court order was in response to the final appeal in the case, and as such is considered mandatory, based on a decision by Gaza-based legislators in May which made death sentences “obligatory after all possible appeals against them are completed”.(Sources: Ma'an, 27/11/2016)
