On the first day of 2025, the death sentences of at least three prisoners were carried out in Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj. According to a report received by Hengaw, citing the government-affiliated Rokna website, the executions took place at dawn on Wednesday, January 1, 2025.
One of the executed prisoners was identified as Arshia, approximately 22 years old, who had been arrested in December 2022 for the murder of his stepfather. The second individual, Amin, an Afghan national, had been arrested in July 2022 for the murder of a person. The identity of the third prisoner was not disclosed in the report. However, it was noted that he had been arrested in October 2022 for the murder of his brother-in-law during an inheritance dispute.
