August 4, 2025 - IRAN. 4 political prisoners sentenced to death
Mohammad Darvish Narouyi, Yassin Kabdani, Farhad Baranzehi, Omran Aghal
According to information Iran Human Rights obtained on August 4, Mohammad Darvish Narouyi and Yassin Kabdani, two Baluch “Woman, Life, Freedom” protesters have been sentenced to death on charges of moharebeh (enmity against god) and efsad-fil-arz (corruption on earth) by the Zahedan Central Prison. Two other Baluch political prisoners named Farhad Baranzehi and Omran Aghal also received the death penalty for charges of baghy (armed rebellion).
According to information obtained by Iran Human Rights, two Baluch “Woman, Life, Freedom” protesters named Mohammad Darvish Narouyi, 22, and Yassin Kabdani, 21, have been sentenced to death on charges of moharebeh and efsad-fil-arz by the Zahedan Revolutionary Court. It is not clear what sentence was handed down to the third defendant in the case, Benyamin Kouhkan who was 16 at the time of arrest.
The three Baluch teenagers were arrested in relation to protest that took place in Zahedan on 3 January 2023. The torture-tainted confessions of Yassin Kabdani and Benyamin Kouhkan were aired by state media just a day later.
A source told IHR: “These three teenagers were subjected to severe physical and psychological torture and were denied access to a lawyer and medical care. It was so bad that Benyamin attempted to commit suicide from the extreme physical and psychological pressure in February of that year.”
Two Baluch political prisoners named Farhad Baranzehi, 24, and Omran Baranzehi, 22, were also sentenced to death on baghy charges through membership in banned opposition groups (Jaysh al-Adl) by the Revolutionary Court in July. The two Rasak natives who are held in Zahedan Central Prison were subjected to torture to extract self-incriminating confessions.
