Iran, with a population of more than 85 million people, of which more than 30% are young people, is struggling with an autocratic and dictatorial government.
Maintaining foundations of the corrupt and bloody government of Velayat al-Faqih is based on execution and prison.
In this report, we comment on the executions in 2022 so that the dimensions of the oppression of the Iranian people can be clearly seen.
According to statistics compiled by our colleagues in the Iranian Human Rights Society, at least 623 prisoners were executed in Iranian prisons in 2022. Obviously, due to censorship and repression, this number is not complete and the actual number of executions is higher.
We remind you that in the year 2021, a total of 350 prisoners were executed under the rule of Velayat al-Faqih. The statistics recorded in 2022 indicate the expansion of executions compared to 2021. And at least 273 more prisoners have been executed since 2021.
The charges attributed to the prisoners who were sentenced to death mainly related to drugs and murder. And in some cases, the killing of government agents has also been declared as one of the accusations.
