8 men were executed in Rajai Shahr Prison today. At least 56 people have been executed in Iranian prisons in the last two weeks.
According to information obtained by Iran Human Rights, eight men were executed in Rajai Shahr Prison. All men were sentenced for murder.
Two of the men have been identified as 25-year-old Mohammad Shokri (Shokrian), a Kurdish citizen, and 24-year-old Ali Gholami. The identities of the other six men have not been established at the time of writing. Iran Human Rights is continuing its investigations to establish their identities. According to a source, Mohammad Shokrian from Ivan-e-Gharb of Ilam province, threw a knife at his friend three years ago in Tehran while they were drunk and were not in a normal state, and he killed his friend.
Mohammad Shokrian was sentenced to death by the judiciary three years ago after surrendering to the police and declaring the murder unintentional.
According to informed sources, the prisoners were transferred to the gallows from the youth wards 2 and 6 (known as Darol-Quran).
At the time of writing, none of their executions have been reported by domestic media in Iran.
