Iranian authorities executed 8 prisoners at down on Wednesday, January 12.
The executions were carried out at Raja’i Shahr Prison in the city of Karaj, near the capital, Tehran.
The Chief Justice of Lorestan Province announced today, that two prisoners were executed on charges of setting fire to a gas station in the Darreh Garm neighborhood of Khorramabad in February 2017, which had killed two police officers.
Mohammad Razm did not mention the names and identities of the two, as well as the date of executions.
However, reports from human rights sources indicate that the names of those executed are Mehran Naqdi and Jahanbakhsh Abbasi.
Several state-run media outlets reported the execution of the two prisoners.
The clerical regime seeks to prevent escalation of popular protests by its horrendous executions. It open-handedly uses the death penalty as a tool of repression.
At the same time, the Human Rights Organization of Iran reported that six prisoners convicted of murder were executed today also in Rajai’ Shahr Prison.
According to the report, two of the victims have been identified as Amin Safari and Seyed Peyman Mousavi.
