January 24, 2025 - IRAN. Amjad Amini, Jina Amini's father, accused of "Propaganda against the state" for supporting Pakhshan Azizi
Amjad Amini, the father of Jina Amini—whose death at the hands of government forces in Tehran sparked the "Woman, Life, Freedom" movement—has recently been summoned multiple times by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran and accused of "propaganda against the state."
According to a report received by Hengaw, 54-year-old Amjad Amini, a father seeking justice for Jina Amini, has been charged with "propaganda against the state" by the Islamic Revolutionary Court in Saqqez. He stated that this case stems from an Instagram story he shared about Pakhshan Azizi, a Kurdish political prisoner sentenced to death.
In a post on his Instagram account, Amjad Amini revealed that he was summoned to the First Branch of the Saqqez Prosecutor’s Office on January 18. He was initially charged with "spreading false information." However, he has now been accused of "propaganda against the state," an allegation that was not mentioned in the original summons.
Highlighting inconsistencies in the case, Amini wrote: "I told myself, 'Whatever happens, happens.' If I don’t go, I’ll avoid the blows of their batons, and since I’ve had no underlying health issues in my 54 years, they’ll have no excuse for my death. However, after losing my innocent daughter, my wife and I are already living a slow death."
He also noted: "During the interrogator’s remarks and in the text of the summons, only the charge of spreading false information was communicated to me. Clearly, the complainant was the same agency that the late Saleh Ataei, a Kurdish teacher, referred to as the 'nameless office' (a reference to the Intelligence Office)."
It is worth noting that Amjad Amini was previously arrested by the Intelligence Department on September 16, 2023, during the first anniversary of Jina Amini’s death at the hands of government forces.
