May 18, 2024 - IRAN. Asghar Hajizadeh and Kaveh Bashangeh executed in Salmas on May 18
According to a report received by Hengaw, on Saturday morning, May 18, 2024, the death sentences of two Kurdish prisoners, Asghar Hajizadeh, 46, from Salmas and Kaveh Bashangeh from Mahabad, were carried out in the central prison of Salmas. According to Hengaw's informed sources from Salmas prison, these two prisoners were arrested five years ago for drug-related crimes.
The news of the execution of these two prisoners has not been announced in the government media. Another NGO, Hrana, two days later reported the same news, claiming, however, that 3 men were executed. The third, whose name is not given, was also reportedly from (like Hajizadeh) a village near Salmas, and was convicted of drug charges.
