January 28, 2026 - IRAN. Hashem Abbasi executed in Ahar on January 28.
According to information obtained by Iran Human Rights, a man was hanged in Ahar Prison, East Azerbaijan province, on 28 January 2026. His identity has been established as Hashem Abbasi, a 38-year-old father from Tabriz He was arrested around six years ago for murder.
At the time of writing, his execution has not been reported by domestic media in Iran.
