Political prisoner Hassan Abyat executed in Ahvaz on February 20.
According to IHRS, quoted by Al-Arabiya, on the morning of Monday, February 20, 2023 political prisoner Hassan Abyat was executed in Sepidar Prison in Ahvaz.
Abyat, born in 1978, from Hamidiyeh, Ahvaz, was married and had one child. He graduated from Payam Noor University in Sosangerd city. He was arrested in January 2011 on charges of being a member of anti-regime groups.
Abyat was arrested along with a number of other Ahvaz citizens, Khaled Obidawi, Eidan Beit Sayah, Jassem Saeedi, Reza Obidawi and Jalil Naami. They were all severely tortured to obtain forced confessions.
Abyat was sentenced to death by Judge Farhad Vand in 2012. The charges against him declared as Moharebeh “war against God and corruption in the world, establishment of organizations opposed to the Islamic Republic and communication with foreign countries and actions against security of the country”.
