Hrana and Hengaw published their monthly reports for the month of May. According to Hrana there were at least 157 executions, Hengaw 163. HoC's count for the same period is 174.

Hrana's report is articulate, and touches on many topics. Regarding the death penalty, the main figures are: 157 executions, the highest monthly total since the beginning of the year. 71 executions for people accused of murder, 68 for drug offences. Five people were also charged with rape, and three with armed robbery. The executions in May involved 8 women, and 3 persons whose gender has not yet been established.

According to Hengaw, the 163 executions in May represent a 143% increase compared to the same month in 2024, when there were ‘only’ 67 executions. Hengaw has identified the names of 157 people, while six others have not yet been identified. For Hengaw, there were at least 5 women. 1 man executed was a minor at the time of the crime. Of the 163 executions, only 6 were published in the Iranian state media, while 4 were carried out without even notifying family members. Hengaw identified the different ethnicities: Fars (Persians): 48. Kurds: 26. Lor: 21. Balochs: 20. Turks: 18. Arabs: 6. Turkmen: 2. Gilaks: 2. Sistanis: 2. Afghans: 7. - Unidentified: 11.
