IRAN: MAN HANGED ON DRUG CHARGES, TWO EXECUTED FOR MURDER

Three prisoners were executed in three different cities between 22 and 26 November 2016.
A 36-year-old prisoner with drug related charges was hanged in Adelabad, Shiraz's central prison, on 22 November, reported Iran Human Rights. He was identified as Mehdi Shamsinejad, a husband and father of two small children. In 2014, Iranian authorities arrested Shamsinejad for allegedly trafficking 600 grams of crystal meth and crack.
Another prisoner was hanged in Khomeyn Prison on 23 November, and one more was hanged in Lakan, Rasht's central prison on 26 November. Both of them were executed on murder charges. The prisoner in Rasht, identified as Shabaan Ranjbar, was detained in prison for 20 years before his execution, while the prisoner in Khomeyn Prison was identified by the Human Rights News Agency (HRANA) as Gholamhossein Beigi, who was detained in prison for 18 years before his execution.
