November 29, 2024 - IRAN. Mehrab Abdullahzadeh sentenced to death
Kurdish detainee of the “Women, Life, Freedom” movement
Mehrab Abdullahzadeh, a Kurdish man from Urmia, who was arrested during the “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement, has recently been sentenced to death on charges of “armed rebellion.”
According to reports received by Hengaw, in the summer of 2024, Mehrab Abdullahzadeh was sentenced to death by the Second Branch of the Revolutionary Court in Urmia.
Hengaw has learned that Mehrab's case includes allegations of killing a member of the Basij forces. The death sentence was officially conveyed to him in late September this year while he was in Urmia Central Prison. Mehrab Abdullahzadeh was abducted by security forces in the fall of 2022 during the “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement and transferred to a security detention center in Urmia. After enduring months of torture and interrogation, he was transferred to Urmia Central Prison and approximately two weeks ago was moved to the political ward of the prison.
