(May 5, 2023) - Names of 4 men executed in Urmia on May 5. The fate of a 5th prisoner, a Turkish Azerbaijani man, arrested on drug-related charges, who was transferred to solitary confinement is still unknown.
IHR and Engaw identified, at different times, 4 men executed at Urmia Jail, Khorramabad on 5 May. They were all sentenced for drugs.
Faramarz Shakhsi was initially identified. Today (May 7) we can add the names of the other 3 men:
Davod Mahmoudyar (Dawud Mahmoudyar), Behzad Hanifi (Behzad Pourhanifi), and Mehdi Teymuri.
Mahmoudyar was a Turkish Azerbaijani from Urmia, Hanifi, from Urmia, was married and father of two, and Mehdi Teymuri was a Turkish Azerbaijani.
