the death sentence of a boy accused of killing an eight year old child was upheld by the State Supreme Court and the file was sent to the implementation unit of Tehran's Criminal Court in Iran.According to the legal affairs reporter of the Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA), Ali, aged 15, an Afghanistani, was accused of killing Jan Ahmad, aged eight. According to the bill of indictment, which was issued on December 18, 2005, in the town of Shahriar, Ali sodomised and then murdered Ahmad so he would not be discovered.
At a court session on July 23 this year, Arash Seyfi, on behalf of the Tehran prosecutor, called for Ali to be punished in view of the report by law enforcement authorities, the coroner's verdict and the explicit confession of the accused.
The judges at Branch 74 of Tehran Province's Penal Court (Hoseyni Kuh-Kamare'i, Tardast, Rahimi, Abdollahi and Baqeri) sentenced him to death. The sentence was upheld by Branch 39 of the State Supreme Court.
