Iraq executed 230 people from 2005 to 2009 and 1,254 were sentenced to death, government spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh said. His remarks were in response to a UN report that said 12,000 people had been sentenced to death in Iraq since 2003.(Sources: Agence France Presse, 27/07/2010)
