The Islamic State (IS) members responsible for the terror attack in front of the Erbil Governorate in 2014 received death and life imprisonment sentences.Erbil Criminal Court sentenced seven IS members to death and five others to life in prison.
According to a statement by the Kurdistan Region Security Council (KRSC), “the criminals directly planned and supervised ‘the terror attack’ and are networks linked to the IS and are responsible for some terror attacks in Kirkuk.”
The 13 convicted perpetrators were arrested by the KRSC’s Directorate of Counter-Terrorism.
On Nov. 19, 2014, a suicide car bomb exploded in front of the Erbil Governorate building resulting in the death of five people and wounding 29 others.
