OSLO: LAST DAY OF THE 6th WORLD CONGRESS AGAINST THE DEATH PENALTY

Celebrating Marco Pannella in the hall of the Nobel Peace Prize

The 6th World Congress Against the Death Penalty concluded today with the adoption of the final declaration and a solemn closing session.
The closing ceremony was held at the Oslo City Hall, introduced by the Major, Marianne Borgen.
Various associations and networks sponsoring the campaign also took the floor, as well as two members of the Tunisian National Dialogue Quartet, 2015 laureate of the Nobel Peace Prize.
After the video messages from the Nobel Peace Prize laureates José Ramos-Horta and Desmond Tutu, Antonio Stango introduced a tribute to Marco Pannella, leader of the Nonviolent Radical Party, Transnational and Transparty, and President of Hands Off Cain.
The final declaration was read by Elisabeth Zitrin, President of the World Coalition Against the Death Penalty. Then Tore Hattrem, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of Norway took the floor as representative of the government that hosted the World Congress.
The Ceremony was followed by the Global March Against the Death Penalty in the streets of Oslo.
