At least nine more murder convicts were sent to the gallows in Lahore, Vehari, Gujrat, Sargodha, Rawalpindi and Machh, raising the total number of executions to at least 131 since Pakistan reversed the self-imposed moratorium on the death penalty in December 2014 after the Taliban school massacre.
Two death row prisoners were hanged in Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat Jail. Abdul Khaliq had killed a woman in a factory area while Shehzad was found guilty of killing a man in Iqbal town.
Another two people were executed at the district jail in Vehari. Abdul Sattar had killed a 13-year-old girl in Lahore after raping her in 1997 while Sana Ullah had killed a 12-year-old boy after molesting him in 2004.
Two murder convicts were hanged in the district jail of Gujrat. Faisal Mahmood had killed his friend over a financial dispute in 1994, while Naseer Ahmad was found guilty of killing a man in 2002.
Death row convict Muhammad Amir was hanged in the in district jail of Sargodha. He had killed his opponent in 2002.
Death row prisoner Bahadur Khan was executed in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail for killing Yasir Mahmood in 1997.
Another death row convict, Khan Muhammad, was hanged at the Central Jail in Machh. He had killed his brother and nephew in 2004.
