Two death row prisoners were hanged in the jails of Dera Ghazi Khan and Bahawalpur while the execution of two convicts was postponed.Double murder convict Abdul Majeed was hanged in the District Jail of Dera Ghazi Khan. He had killed his brother Ali Ahmed and nephew Abdul Aziz in November 2002 over a property dispute.
Another prisoner, Muhammad Azam, was executed in the New Central Jail of Bahawalpur for murdering his rival in 1997 over an old enmity while the execution of Muhammad Khadim Hussain was postponed on court’s order.
Meanwhile, the execution of Ibrar Hussain in the District Jail Toba Tek Singh was postponed after the rival parties reached a friendship agreement. He had killed Muhammad Akram in 1997.
Since the de facto ban on capital punishment ended on 17 December 2014, at least 286 people, including twenty-six convicted terrorists, have been executed across the country.
