Hamad al-Rubli, a Saudi convicted of murder, was beheaded by the sword in Arar on the border with Iraq, the Saudi interior ministry announced. Al-Rubli had been found guilty of stabbing to death compatriot Mashaal bin Momammad al-Anzi, it said. The execution brought to 62 the number of beheadings announced by Saudi authorities since the start of the year.
