SAUDI ARABIA: TWO SAUDIS AND A YEMENI BEHEADED FOR MURDER

On 20 August 2013, Saudi Arabia beheaded two nationals convicted of murdering a Syrian and of armed robbery. Ibrahim al-Qanbar and Ahmed al-Musalam were found guilty of attacking a labour camp and opening fire at residents, killing Mohammed al-Shuja and wounding another person. Qanbar was also charged with several acts of armed robbery, it said. The beheadings were carried out in the Qatif district.
On 21 August, a Yemeni, Husni Tawhal, was beheaded in Makah after being convicted of stabbing a fellow countryman, Saqr Sulaia, to death.
A total of 61 people have now been executed in Saudi Arabia since the start of the year, according to an AFP count.
