Seven people were sentenced to death on 27 January 2020 by a court in Nyala, South Darfur, after being found guilty of killing nine people in September 2017, in the area of Tobasi, 43km south of Nyala.
The trial, which started in November 2017, lasted 25 sessions, before the judge finally issued a verdict convicting seven people and acquitting one.
The defendants were accused of attacking local residents in a market in the area of Tombasi, south Darfur, killing nine people.
Arrest warrants had been issued and the security forces managed to apprehend the offenders and bring them to trial.
