04 November 2011 :

Taiwan’s defense ministry says it will pay $4.4 million to relatives of airman Chiang Kuo-ching, 21, who was wrongly executed in 1997 after a court martial convicted him of murdering a 5-year-old girl. Following relatives’ numerous appeals, a military court acquitted him posthumously, saying his confession was the result of torture and coercion.
