March 12, 2025 - Oklahoma. (HB 1693) The House passed HB 1693 that modifies the process to determine mental competency for execution.
Including requiring the trial court to render a decision before the scheduled execution date unless the Court of Criminal Appeals issues a stay of execution.
The bill, sponsored by Rande Worthen (R), passed the House Criminal Judiciary Committee on March 4, 2025 with 12 votes for, 2 votes against. It passed the House on March 12, 2025 with 69 votes for, 14 votes against.
