Rick Rhoades, 57, White, was executed by lethal injection at the state penitentiary in Huntsville.
A jury convicted him in 1992 for the Sept. 13, 1991 double homicide of 2 brothers who were stabbed to death while sleeping at their Pasadena home, Charles and Bradley Allen, 31 and 33.
The brothers were killed less than a day after Rhoades had been released on parole after serving a sentence for burglary. Rhoades admitted to the killings, but claimed he acted in self-defense. This is Harris County's 1st execution in 2 years.
Rhoades becomes the 3rd person executed in Texas this year, the 573nd since Texas resumed executions in 1982, the 6th person executed in 2021 in the United States, the No. 1,535 since the United States reintroduced the sentence of died in 1976 and resumed executions in 1977.
