A Chattogram court on October 19, 2023 sentenced a father to death for raping his own daughter.
The accused father has been identified as Md Nasir Molla, 35, son of late Jalil Molla of West Shauljalia area of Kathalia thana in Jhalakathi district.
Chattogram Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-7 Judge Ferdous Ara passed the order on October 19.
Confirming the verdict, Special Public Prosecutor of Chattogram Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Advocate Khandaker Ariful Alam said, “Nasir Molla has been sentenced to death and fined Tk 3 lakh for raping his own daughter.”
According to the case statement, Molla forcibly raped his teenage daughter (12) multiple times against her will in the absence of her mother at her home from March 25 to April 20, 2021.
A rape case was filed against the father on April 28 of the same year over the incident. Later, the police filed a chargesheet with the tribunal on June 24 of the same year accusing Molla.
