19 October 2023 :

A court in Chuadanga on October 5, 2023 sentenced a man to death on the charge of killing his wife in Alamdanga upazila of the district.
Chuadanga District and Sessions Judge Zia Haider handed down the verdict at 12 noon before the convict.
The convict is Fontu Mandal, 60, a resident of Polbagunda village in the upazila. He also fined Tk 20,000.
Advocate Abul Basar, public prosecutor of the court, confirmed the matter.
According to the prosecution, Fontu hacked his wife Dalima Khatun, 40, to death on March 15 this year over a continuous feud centering on his extramarital affairs with several women.
A case was filed by the victim's son Jamirul Islam with Alamdanga Police Station accusing Fontu.
Ashisqul Islam, the investigating officer of the case, submitted a chargesheet against him to the court.
