28 September 2006 :
a court in Bangladesh was scheduled to try a Muslim journalist for writing articles favourable to Israel. The country's laws state that the journalist, Salah Uddin Choudhury, could receive a death sentence. He was editor of an English weekly printed in Dakha, in which he had been critical of Muslim extremism while writing favourably of Israel. He was arrested in 2003 at the Dhaka airport before boarding a flight to Israel where he was to speak on promoting Muslim-Jewish relations.
Bangladesh did not press charges but re-arrested Choudhury after he printed articles warning of Muslim terrorism and urging the government recognise the state of Israel.
