Modisane Ping was executed in secret in Botswana. Ping was found guilty of killing his girlfriend and her six-year-old son. His sentence had been upheld by the Court of Appeal, Botswana's highest court. There was no notification of the impendingexecution and Modisane Ping's family had no access to him immediately before
or after the execution. The family learned of his execution over the radio.
