a man was executed for drug dealing in Guangzhou, China. Chen Bingxi was found guilty of trafficking and manufacturing 12.36 tons of crystal meth and selling and transporting more than 100 kgs of heroin. The Guangzhou Intermediate People's Court sentenced him to death and confiscated all of his personal assets on December 14, 2006. The Guangdong Higher People's Court upheld the sentence on November 7, 2008 and this was later approved by the Supreme People's Court. Chen was born in Chishui Village of Puning City in Guangdong Province in 1956. In November 1999, 108.85 kilograms of heroin belonging to Zhang were captured by Guangzhou police in a Guangzhou warehouse. Chen had 11.08 tons of crystal meth stored in the same place. When another 1.28 tons of crystal meth was later found in Chen's hometown of Puning, his methamphetamine production line was uncovered. Chen and his wife fled to Thailand in November 1999, but were arrested by police on November 4, 2003 and extradited to China the next day. Chen's wife, Chen Baoyu, has been sentenced to 11 and a half years in prison and fined 3 million yuan (US$439,000) for producing drugs.
