CHINA: KENYANS RECEIVE DEATH PENALTY FOR DRUG TRAFFICKING

authorities in China sentenced five Kenyan nationals to death after they were convicted of drug trafficking. The condemned are: Peter Amisi Obonyo, 36, arrested in Shenzhen. Josephine Achieng Onim, 25, and Grace Lucy Omondi, 57, arrested in Guangzhou. Leah Muthoni Mweru Kimani and Christine Nyabera Ongowo, 47.
Six others also received life imprisonment while 20 others, mainly women, received jail terms of 150 years. The convicts claim that they were recruited by a Nigerian drug lord called Ken Amadu Obina Okuoma.
The Kenyan Foreign Ministry confirmed the punishments, warning that the number of convictions could be higher.
