April 25, 2024 - IRAN. 1 woman and 2 men executed in Karaj on April 25.
Rokna (state media) reported the executions of two men and a woman in Karaj on 25 April.
According to the report, the first inmate, a middle-aged man, allegedly killed his wife on 16 April 2020 during a family dispute. The report does not specify the exact execution location. The second man was executed in Ghezel Hesar Prison for fatally stabbing a young man during a street fight on 29 September 2021. The woman, identified only as Sahar (Shahnaz), allegedly killed a 70-year-old neighbour to steal their gold on 26 February 2022. The woman is reported to have been executed in “Karaj Rajai Shahr Prison,” a prison that was closed last year.
According to the information compiled by the Women’s Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, with the execution of Shahnaz, the number of women executed in Iran since 2007 has reached 234. She is the 5th woman hanged in Iran in 2024.
