On January 24, 2024, three inmates were executed for drug offenses and murder in two different prisons of Shiraz: Shiraz Central Prison (Adel Abad), and Pir-bano (Pirbanu) Prison.
The executed individuals were Fazel Shafiei, 40, and Morteza Nadimi, 35, both identified as having been executed in Adel Abad Prison. They were convicted of drug offenses four and two years ago, respectively. The third inmate, who has not been identified, was convicted of murder five years ago, and was executed in Pir-Bano (Pirbanu) Prison.
