April 29, 2026 - IRAN. Three Iranian police personnel killed in armed attack in Zahedan

At least three members of Iran’s law enforcement forces were killed and another was wounded after unidentified gunmen attacked a police patrol vehicle in the city of Zahedan.

According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the attack took place at about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2026, near Bagheri Street and close to the Shirabad cemetery in Zahedan.

Gunmen opened fire on the police patrol vehicle, killing one officer at the scene. Two other wounded personnel later died from their injuries.

The three killed were identified as Staff Sgt. Mohammadreza Nezamdoost, from Zahak; 1st Lt. Ali Momeni, from Zabol and residing in Zahedan; and Ali Asghar Goldavi.

Local reports said the city was placed under heavy security measures immediately after the attack, with government forces and plainclothes agents heavily deployed.

Roads leading to the Shirabad area were blocked and strict inspections were carried out.

No group had claimed responsibility for the attack, and Iranian authorities had not released further details about the assailants.
