January 17, 2024 - 4 men executed in Karaj on January 17.
Bahman Fathollahzadeh, Imani Shabani (Sha'abani), Keramat Jan Nazarkhani, + 1 unk.
Several NGOs reported that on January 17, 4 men were executed in Ghezel-Hesar prison in Karaj, and a fifth, Khasmorad Saeedi Geravand, died of a heart attack when he was told to prepare for the execution. Geravand died in the prison infirmary at 4.30 pm.
The 4 hanged were: Bahman Fathollahzadeh, Imani Shabani (Sha'abani), Keramat Jan Nazarkhani, and an unidentified Afghan citizen.
Bahman Fathollahzadeh (or Hossein Fethullahzadeh), was from Tehran and had been convicted of drug charges.
Iman Sha'abani (Shabani), was a Turkmen from Golestan province and had been convicted of drug charges.
Keramat Jan Nazarkhani, 26, a Turkmen native of the village of Nazarkhani, in the province of Golestan, had been convicted for a murder during an argument. According to Hengaw, the incident occurred 6 years ago, when Nararkhani was 20 years old.
The last person executed was not identified. All we know about him is that he was an Afghan citizen convicted of drug charges.
These executions were not published by Iran's domestic media.
