December 2, 2025 - IRAN. CSDHI report: at least 336 executions in November
The Comité de Soutien aux Droits de l’Homme en Iran (CSDHI), an NGO of Iranian exiles in France, has published a summary report for the month of November.
“November 2025 saw a shocking increase in human rights violations and the use of capital punishment by the Iranian regime, reaching at least 336 executions — the highest monthly total in nearly forty years. Among those executed were nine women, and two prisoners were hanged in public, illustrating the regime's continued willingness to use visible violence as a tool of intimidation and control. This appalling death toll reflects a deliberate policy of state violence, systematically enforced by the Iranian judiciary and security forces.
This unprecedented wave of executions is part of a broader context of repression and crisis. Faced with economic collapse, social unrest and international condemnation, the Iranian authorities appear to be responding by intensifying punitive measures and silencing all forms of dissent. The death penalty has become a central instrument of political repression, used not only against people accused of crimes, but also to eliminate political opponents, members of ethnic and religious minorities, and individuals accused of being affiliated with opposition groups such as the People's Mojahedin Organisation of Iran (PMOI).
In many cases, executions have been carried out without transparency. Prisoners have been denied access to a lawyer, subjected to prolonged isolation, torture, forced confessions, and executed without notifying their families. Some have been executed shortly after their sentence was confirmed, despite ongoing legal appeals or serious health problems. Credible reports also indicate cases of suicide or death due to medical negligence or psychological pressure related to imminent execution.
Overall, the wave of executions in November does not represent a simple judicial action, but a deliberate strategy of state terror, intended to instil a climate of fear and eliminate any perceived threat to power. The scale and brutality of these acts demand urgent international intervention and the establishment of accountability mechanisms to stop the regime's death machine and protect the lives of those on death row.
