November 28, 2023 - Hamid Bakhshayesh executed in Karaj on 28 November
Earlier, news had been published of two other executions that took place in the same prison on the same day, those of Eghbal (Iqbal) Fathollahi, Mohsen Amrayi (Amrai). Two other men were returned to the general population after obtaining last minute extensions in their case.
According to information obtained by Iran Human Rights and Hengaw, at least 3 men were executed in Ghezel-Hesar Prison of Karaj on 28 November. Eghbal (Iqbal) Fathollahi, Mohsen Amrayi (Amrai), and Hamid Bakhshayesh.
These three prisoners were sentenced for drug-related charges. Fatholahi and Amrai were cousins of each other and were sentenced to death in a joint case.
The 3 prisoners were transferred to solitary confinement in a group of five on 27 November. The other men who are on death row for murder, were returned to their cells after obtaining extensions from the plaintiffs in the case.
At the time of writing, their executions have not been reported by domestic media in Iran.
