(July 15, 2023) - Jahedullah Maaruf (Jahedollah Marouf) executed in Isfahan on July 15
According to a report obtained by Hengaw, the execution of Jahedullah Maaruf, an Afghan inmate, was carried out at Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan in the early hours of Saturday, July 15th, 2023.
Reliable sources have revealed that the aforementioned inmate was sentenced to death for repeated drug trafficking crimes and murder. It is not clear whether he was executed for the murder or drug charges. A source told IHR: “Marouf was transferred for execution from the foreign ward. Around 250-300 prisoners are held in the foreign ward, the majority of whom are Afghan and Pakistani. The majority of them are on death row and most of them are for drug charges.”
As of the time of this reporting, the execution of Maaruf has not been publicly announced by government media outlets.
