September 30, 2025 - IRAN. Mohsen Ashiri amputated of 4 fingers on September 30
According to information Hengaw received on October 10, Iranian authorities have carried out the amputation of four fingers from the right hand of Mohsen Ashiri, a 37-year-old Bakhtiari Lor prisoner, in Isfahan Central Prison (Dastgerd), despite the complainant in his case having formally withdrawn their complaint. The punishment was implemented on September 30, 2025. Ashiri, also known as Mohsen Lorazbakhsh Falavarjan, was arrested six years ago on charges of theft and later sentenced by the Isfahan Criminal Court to six months in prison and the amputation of four fingers from his right hand.
After completing his prison term, Ashiri was released on bail of one billion tomans following the victim’s pardon and a signed declaration of forgiveness. However, in September 2025, the court summoned him again, demanding a new bail of 200 billion tomans and warning that failure to provide it would result in the implementation of the amputation sentence.
Unable to afford the new bail, Ashiri was re-arrested and transferred to Dastgerd Prison, where the sentence was carried out less than a month later — even though the complainant had already issued a full pardon.
Hengaw strongly condemns this act as a flagrant violation of human dignity, a breach of international human-rights standards, and an act amounting to torture. The organization calls for an immediate end to all corporal punishments and other inhumane practices in Iran.
