January 5, 2024 - Mohsen Saravani executed in Zahedan on December 16.
State media reported the execution of an unnamed man for links with foreign services including Mossad” in Zahedan Central Prison on 16 December 2023. According to information now (January 5, 2024) obtained by IHR, the unnamed man was 24-years-old Mohsen Saravani, who was sentenced to death for charges of efsad-fil-arz (corruption on earth) through “links with foreign services including Mossad.”
Court documents obtained by IHR show that Mohsen Saravani was an IRGC member arrested on 17 April 2022.
He was convicted of “Intelligence and espionage collaboration for the benefit of the hostile Zionist regime (Mossad) and collection of classified information including confidential, highly confidential and secret, through government agents and providing classified information to the hostile services officers directly and indirectly to incompetent individuals.”
Mohsen had two co-defendants in this case. A man named Afshin Ghorbani who has also been sentenced to death for the same charges and the woman in the case has received a custodial sentence.
